Breakfast at The Lobby, The Peninsula Chicago~
Never love a wild thing…[Others] may be normal, darling; but I’d rather be natural.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Good morning, if your reading, “You’re wonderful. Unique. I love you” Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Each foodtiq review shares my taste-adventure by connecting the dining experience to the character of a strong, female icon. For today’s post, the plan was to feature Julie Andrews but how could I pass on using Audrey Hepburn (again) for this particular Breakfast at The Lobby? Thematically, it would be a terrible injustice to use anyone else for this breakfast affair. As a wild thing, I do what inspires me and what feels natural~
Pâtisserie extraordinaire A Pretty, Tasting Gallery Small cakes, tiered cakes, chocolate gâteaux, macarons, tarts~
Each time I visit the Peninsula, I have a routine: I stop by Pierrot Gourmet to see the cake gallery. It is my fun, artsy appreciation for the hard-work and meticulous attention to the science of baking. In this case, the pastries are just as tasty as they look. No deception here. After some sweet, ocular pleasure, I head next door and take the elevator to what is consistently, the best, le petit déjeuner in town. On this visit, a combination of great company, wonderful weather, and a strong appetite made me inexplicably, happy to brekkie~
The hardest part of anything is making a dish consistently great- you order it seven years later, if it’s still on the menu, and it’s still as good as what you remember. -Chef Mario Batali
The Lobby is one of those rare gems, that gets it right, every time.
“The Peninsula Spa Breakfast”- Organic, low-fat yogurt, fresh berries and granola, butter croissant, & freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
Egg White Frittata, Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella
Fresh, Watermelon Juice- liquid decadence
